Maggie Fritts gets North going after falling behind 8-0 the Lady Knights then went on a 15-0 run and never looked back.
The NDMS Lady Knights created just a little drama for “Middle Knight Nation” today in their game against Tyro Middle. The Lady Knights found themselves down 0-8 less than a minute into the game…then a 15-0 run to finish the first quarter took all the drama away, and the Lady Knights coasted to a 45-31 victory at their home game in Welcome.
Taylor Darrow, Lauren Ramsey and Maggie Fritts provided the offensive firepower. Darrow led the way with 13 points, followed by Ramsey with 12 and Fritts with 9. Fritts had 7 rebounds and Darrow 6, and Ramsey had 2 steals as well. 8 players scored, and with the team up by 20 at the end of 3 quarters, Coach Vaughan again was able to go to his bench and give valuable game experience while resting the starters.
North, now 2-0 in conference play and 6-0 overall, travel to Southmont Monday to take on Central Davidson at 4:30.
MAD Notes: The final margin of victory was a little misleading; the Lady Knights could have easily added to their lead but Coach Vaughan rightfully played his bench, while Tyro kept in their starters until late in the 4th quarter…Hannah Sherman’s passing game has looked particularly sharp the last 2 games…The 8 point deficit was the most our Lady Knights have been behind this year, but they did not panic. Vaughan chose to not call a timeout and play their way out of it, which was the right call.
