North Davidson paid tribute to the Cheerleader and Basketball Seniors prior to the Mount Tabor game Tuesday night. Myndsports started in 2007 and these young men and women were just barely getting their high school careers started. All the athletes are special to me and the athletes honored tonight are like family. To be able to share their accomplishments is something that is hard to put into words. After watching the wrestling seniors last week during their night a friend came up to me and said it is very addictive to be around these young men and women. I told him,” that’s what I have told everyone, if you get involved it is the most incredible sense of satisfaction you will ever have.
I have always been a admirer of each and every athlete we cover and to capture just a small moment in their life that they will someday look back upon with fond memories and yearning to get back to these days is all the reward I could ever ask for. I have seen their highest of highs and lowest of lows and each time they never stop amazing me to the point I sometimes forget they are still kids.
I am proud of the young men and women they have been, and are and will be! No matter how bad my day might be I spend a few minutes with them and all the cares of the world disappear. You have represented our community with honor, dignity and class and whatever direction life takes you, you have proven that whatever you set your mind on can make all your dreams come true.
